Tech help at the library

The Martin County Library System offers free one-on-one tech time appointments! These 30-minute appointments are to help you with specific technology-related questions when you're stumped by your device, want to learn a new skill, or are trying to complete a task.

Making an appointment gives us time to understand your question, research solutions in advance, and deliver information to you -- in a clear, digestible way.

Before your appointment:

  • We'll call you to make sure we understand your specific question and all relevant details.
    • Note: Some questions may be outside our scope and require commercial tech support. Examples include device repair or cleanup, entering sensitive information, restoring accounts, or medical, financial, or legal advice.
  • Prepare any necessary materials like passwords, manuals, chargers, or cables.
  • Write down additional questions or relevant observations to share.

During your appointment:

  • Arrive on time. We'll have 30 minutes together, and we want to make the most of our time.
  • Be prepared to drive! We will support you with personalized guidance and help you understand each step so you can handle similar questions in the future.
  • Feel free to take notes. We all learn and retain information differently; let us know how we can help.

After your appointment:

  • Review any relevant materials and information shared.
  • Take an online class while the information is fresh! Some of our favorite resources are available from home - no login required!
  • Practice! So much of technology is muscle memory.
