An amendment that proposes changes to the state’s property tax system will be on the ballot during the November 2026 General Election. If approved by 60% of voters, it would take effect with the 2027 tax year.
New building permit exemption provisions have been established under Florida House Bill 803 and are effective July 1, 2026. Exemptions apply to certain non-structural residential construction projects with a total value of less than $7,500. Property owners and contractors should be aware that many smaller, common home projects still require permits.
