What is the minimum age for flight simulator lessons?

The minimum age is 10. The lessons require focus and concentration, so younger children who are easily distracted may struggle. It's best to wait until they’re older.

How much does it cost?

It’s FREE! This is another complimentary service from the Martin County Library System. Explore our website or ask library staff for more details on other free services.

What is a Pilot ID and why is it needed?

A Pilot ID ensures privacy by allowing us to communicate without using students' names. The pilot ID begins with the letter "N" and includes the birth month, day, and the pilot's initials (e.g., N0724AE for Amelia Earhart, born July 24).

What should I know before starting?

  1. Watch the lesson tutorial video(s) before your lesson. This is mandatory and will maximize your flying time.
  2. Handle the equipment gently and enjoy the experience. It's for entertainment and learning, not stress.

Can I fly a real plane after these lessons?

No. Our simulator program is educational and for entertainment only. It does not count towards FAA certification. For real flight training, you must attend a certified flight school. If a flight school instructor teaches you something that contradicts what you may learn here, listen to your flight school instructor.

What if I need to miss a lesson?

Notify both staff and your instructor if you can’t attend a lesson. Call (772) 463-3245 or email the Robert Morgade Library, and contact your instructor if they’ve provided their details.

Here’s how to register for flight simulator lessons:

  1. Go to our Library Events Calendar.
  2. Look for a date and time that works for you. Click on the first available "Register" box.
  3. Ensure you have no schedule conflicts with the selected dates.
  4. Complete the entire registration form. 

This program consists of six 1-hour lessons. Your registration will cover 7 consecutive weeks to accommodate any missed sessions. Watch the lesson tutorial video(s) prior to attending your in-person lesson at the library.

You can reserve the Flight Simulator at the Robert Morgade Library for up to 3 hours per day to practice or enjoy a flight, provided there are no scheduled classes or events.

To book the simulator:

  1. Go to our room booking calendar.
  2. Select "Equipment" from the booking type drop-down menu.
  3. Choose an available date (reservations are limited to 7 days in advance).
