WHAT IS HAZARDOUS WASTE?

Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous wastes (HHW) are materials or substances that contain ingredients that are toxic, flammable, corrosive or reactive and are potentially damaging to the environment, harmful to humans and other living organisms.

Proper care and disposal is essential when dealing with household hazardous waste. Hazardous waste should never be disposed of curbside.

If disposed of improperly, these products can contaminate our waterways and fragile drinking water supply, damage septic tanks and wastewater systems, and injure sanitation workers.
